Oppose academies and free schools allowing unqualified teachers to teacher and schools acting independently of local authorities, while still supporting teachers working for academies and free schools.

Supporting the ‘End Child Poverty’ campaign and ‘Let’s All Have Lunch!’ campaign and ensuring the government are sticking to their promises to eradicate child poverty by 2020.

The Stand Up for Education campaign makes recommendations to the government for the priorities and policies that will benefit all children. This includes communicating the concerns of teachers, enlisting the support of parents in order to successfully support education as a whole. This means challenging the current, high stakes system of accountability that has causes teachers to become overworked, dispirited and increasing numbers to leave the profession. The campaign also seeks to preserve teacher’s pensions and ensure that other government appraisal policies do not negatively impact on the teacher’s working conditions.

Oppose the Phonics Check on the grounds that the exams do not test children fairly and that 5 years old is too young to be tested. 

Seek to unite all teachers in England and Wales.

Are against unreasonable marking policies that create an excessive workload.

They believe Welsh schools are underfunded and are working to raise funds in order to reduce class sizes, increase access to resources, and provide higher provisions and CPD for teachers.
