A well-resourced and supportive community primary in Lambeth are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with Speech and Language experience. This is a long term Teaching Assistant would suit a candidate wanting to become a Speech and Language Therapist. It would also be ideal if you are looking for good experience of working in a Primary School before beginning your Primary PGCE.
As a Teaching Assistant you will support 5 pupils 1:1, in a split timetable that will see you working in and out of the classroom. As a Teaching Assistant you will also be expected to provide vital support in speech and language sessions, which help the pupils to increase their confidence, self-esteem and independence. This Teaching Assistant post is suited to a candidate that can be enthusiastic, conscientious and always focused on the welfare of the children, who are the school's primary concern.
As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant your role will involve you working in different functions across the whole school. The teacher may require you to lead the whole class and you will be expected to contribute to some extra-curricular activities. You will provide personalised support to pupils for certain elements of the curriculum in small groups or on a one to one basis.
