Speech and Language Assistant - Person Specification
The ideal Speech and Language Assistant will be a compassionate graduate who has previous experience working with children who have special educational needs and a degree grading of 2:1 or above. The most suitable Speech and Language Assistants will have a dedication to succeed in the role and a passion for working with special needs students. The school wants to recruit a graduate who has the ambition to take on more responsibility and a caring attitude in the classroom. You will have the skills to show a real drive to achieve well and display a constant enthusiasm in and outside the classroom.
About the Speech and Language Assistant Role
In this Speech and Language Assistant post you will be working under the leadership of a dedicated SENCO to support the development of pupils within the school who have difficulty communicating on a 1:1 basis. You will be developing and implementing strategies to help to support the pupils under your guidance to make progress. You will need a calm, patient and resilient personality and a passion for a career within education. You will work within a specialist class of up to 12 children across the primary range and must be open to undertaking personal care duties from time to time (nappy changing etc).
