We are working alongside a modern and progressive Secondary School in Ipswich to appoint an inspirational Science Graduate who can provide support to the school's Science department for the next academic year.
What is a Science Academic Mentor?
The successful applicant will be tasked with tutoring and mentoring small groups of students within the school's Science department as a Science Intervention Tutor. These sessions are designed to increase the confidence, build interest and heighten the attainment levels of students within the department. There will be 1:1 sessions and small-group sessions
When not running intervention sessions, you will be tasked with supporting the department as a Science Teaching Assistant, getting the opportunity to observe how qualified teachers plan and deliver lessons. You will also get an insight into marking and assessment.
There will be opportunities for the successful Science Graduate to transition on to teacher training within the school from September 2020 so this role provides the perfect opportunity to build a solid base of school experience prior to making your teacher training application.
***Science Graduate required to work at a Secondary School in Ipswich

***One full year of paid experience within a Science department

***£65-£75 per day (dependant on role)
What does the successful Science Academic Mentor need?
- You will need to have obtained a 2:1 or first-class honours degree grade within a Science based degree subject.
- GCSEs of C or above within English, Maths and Science will also be required.
- Enthusiasm and energy!
- A love of Science and a desire to pass this on to the next generation!
- Previous experience working alongside the 11-16 age range would be preferable although applicants who do not have experience but have a passion for science and are able to demonstrate their suitability to inspire others will still be considered.
- You must be considering a career as a Science Teacher and be looking for school experience prior to applying for teacher training
