This position would suit a bright graduate with a degree in English or a related subject such as Creative Writing or similar. You will need to be driven and enthusiastic with strong leadership skills to provide a high level of support for students and help teachers in the department to engage and stimulate pupils to get excited about English and facilitate learning.
The school embraces the nurture and development of aspiring teachers; as such, this role offers the ideal platform for an English Graduate Teaching Assistant ahead of their Initial Teacher Training.
As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be timetabled to classes within the department and will gain experience supporting children across all age ranges and abilities from Key Stage 3 to A – Level. You will build experience working with pupils of all abilities and this will include GCSE exam preparation and revision intervention sessions as well as one to one session designed to raise attainment. You will also build experience working with SEN and those with an Education Healthcare Plan.
Throughout the English Graduate Teaching Assistant role, you will be guided and receive training on a multitude of teaching methods that will help you on your way to teacher training.
English Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:
• Support, encourage and inspire children and young people in learning.
• Plan and deliver engaging sessions when working with small groups and on a one to one basis.
• Be dedicated to raising attainment levels, tracking and reporting pupil progress.
• Provide English specific subject tuition from KS3 – A-level.
• Liaise with class teachers and SENCO to apply bespoke student plans.
