British Sign Language (BSL) Support Specialist (School based)

Edustaff are working alongside a Colchester based mainstream school who are looking for caring and supporting individuals who are confident and ready to make a positive impact on the lives on some inspiring children.

>Graduate SEN LSA role with Hearing Impairment specialism
>Supporting children aged 4-11 who have Hearing Impairments
>BSL Level 1 qualified with 2:2 degree or above
>Role available from September 2019 – July 2020
>Full academic year of experience

In this TA role you will be required to support and help the development of Hearing-Impaired students across the ages of 4-11, supporting their academic studies, develop students social and communication skills in hearing impaired SEN settings. You will be required to create a stimulating and welcoming learning environment for pupils within the classroom. You will be assisting deaf and hearing-impaired children to develop their language and communication skills. You will be planning, preparing and delivering sessions to develop use and understanding of British Sign Language (BSL) for deaf children.

Found in Colchester, this mainstream Primary school offers a Hearing Impaired Resource Base to children with speech and language impairments. The school want their children to develop their full potential in a caring and supportive atmosphere, becoming confident, independent learners. The resource base has a large main area that boasts an interactive whiteboard and then two smaller rooms that are used for intervention sessions and 1:1 work.
