For this post, you must be a nurturing graduate who has a long history of academic success that includes a 2:2 or better in your degree and previous experience working with SEN children either in a volunteer or paid role. You will be an empathetic individual who can support your pupils' needs in a caring manner and demonstrate a genuine passion to the role. You will have the ability to demonstrate a caring and conscientious attitude when working with pupils with SEN and ably converse with both students and staff. The school wants to recruit someone who has a mature approach which will lead pupils to see them as a positive role model.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant your role will involve you working on a 1:1 basis with students across the year groups. The students at this school have EHCP’s including ASD, ADHD and other learning needs. You will be taking the opportunity to participate in CPD activities that are usually only open to teachers and working under the charge of a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator. You will liaise regularly with outside agencies and occasionally parents.
This is a school that believes in home growing their own teachers and so this role is most suitable for those graduates who are keen to train as a SEN teacher from September 2020.
