The Challenge and Travel Teacher

The summer holidays are approaching. What better way to spend your time than continuing to inspire young people whilst learning new skills and meeting great people.

The Challenge and Travel Teacher offer two truly immersive summer experiences for teachers and university graduates.

The Challenge
The UK's largest provider of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. This government funded initiative unites young people from a variety of backgrounds and gives them a chance to embark on community-driven challenges and discover their hidden talents. With over 26,000 16- and 17-year old’s ready to take part in the programme this year, The Challenge is looking for confident and enthusiastic mentors to lead these young people and guide them toward realising their full potential!

Working on the NCS programme is a fantastic chance to further enhance your portfolio and gain additional experience of working with young people. Not only that, but these are well-paid roles too! See below an endorsement from a PGCE graduate who worked on NCS.

'As a new teacher, working with young people outside of the classroom environment in a different context, enabled me to develop my own ability to communicate and empathise with young people, and I believe as a result has had a positive impact on my teaching practice and professional development... Working for NCS at the end of this long and difficult year helped to reignite my passion for teaching, reminded me just why I love working with young people and confirmed to me that I had made exactly the right decision when choosing teaching as a career.' - Lisa Steciuk, University of Oxford graduate, PGCE Secondary Geography

Whether you are a trainee teacher, a teaching assistant or just considering a career in education, The Challenge is the perfect chance to hone your talents and gain meaningful experience. For more information on The Challenge and the NCS programme, and to apply for an upcoming role, click here.
