The Prime Minister has confirmed that free school meals will not be scrapped under the Government’s spending review. Pupils in reception, year one and year two are entitled to healthy and hot meals for lunchtime under this policy.
The guarantee came after the shadow education minister Sharon Hodgson said cutting the programme would see Cameron go down as ‘Dave, the dinner snatcher’.
Quick to respond, the Prime Minister said he is ‘proud that it was a government I led that introduced this policy’, then questioned Labour for not introducing anything similar in 13 years of government.
