The school have a high intake of EAL students which means there has always been an innate focus on the teaching of languages. Because of the large number of already existing bi-lingual students the student body is considerably porous when it comes to learning languages and there is a high uptake of MFL’s at both GCSE and A-Level standard. The school has a strong language department with both French and Spanish nationals who have found themselves a new home in the U.K and within the school.
The ideal Modern Foreign Languages Teacher will have fluency in both French and Spanish but also have strong experience within the U.K education sector. The successful Modern Foreign Languages Teacher will be able to devise and deliver a creative interpretation of the curriculum which allows students of all academic abilities to excel.
The role will involve assisting in the production of the curriculum with the rest of the Modern Foreign Languages Teachers, providing support to SEN and struggling students and helping in workshops for the gifted and talented pupils. There have previously been medium-size excursions to several European countries for the benefit of the pupils ability to convert their classroom knowledge in to practice when speaking abroad. The role will be a refreshing new opportunity for the successful Modern Foreign Languages Teacher and they will be welcomed wholeheartedly in to the current team of staff.
