Claire Evans – Deputy Head (experience of Acting Head) NPQH!! Claire Evans is currently working at a large multi-ethnic primary school (440) situated close to Nottingham city centre. The children have diverse educational and emotional needs and she facilitates the needs of children from ethnic backgrounds and children with EAL. Claire is an exemplary classroom teacher of 16 years, a hard working Deputy Head and has had the opportunity to be Acting Head for 2 terms. Claire has successfully completed the NPQH in May 2010. Following her time as Acting Head she became a non-teaching Deputy for 3 years and is now currently teaching a year 3/4 class for 3 days a week, demonstrating personal enthusiasm and commitment to highly effective practice modelling excellence. Claire uses her strength in communication skills to secure relationships within and beyond the schools she has worked in. She has established excellent, positive relationships with pupils, staff and the community. As Acting Head, Claire developed a highly successful proactive senior team/whole staff. As the Deputy Head she continues to drive achievement throughout the school, organising and contributing to the Schools Improvement Plan. She continually sustains personal motivation of her staff as well as implementing change. Claire maintains high standards of behaviour, this being one of her many strengths. She has also initiated strategies to support attendance. Claire currently coordinates EMAG and Assessment and has extensive experience of leading Assessment throughout the school. Tracking of the children's progress, supporting staff and leading the senior management team maximising their contribution to continually improve the quality of education provided. Through working with diverse ethnicity and varied needs of EAL, G&T and SEN, Claire provides the children with a creative, stimulating and supportive environment. With her wealth of experience she develops and leads all staff providing a curriculum, which supports individual learning styles and personalised learning needs, enriched by creativity and above all enjoyment. Claire has initiated successful strategies taking into account the diversity, values and experience of the schools she has worked in to ensure development in all areas as well as her continuous work to raise standards. As a committed and inspiring Deputy Head, Claire has many qualities, an excellent time manager, with the ability to prioritise tasks. She ensures the happiness and safety of all the children throughout the school day. Claire's experience enables her to deal with very challenging situations, ensuring that she always strives to find solutions. Claire has exceptional organisational skills. She has clear direction, which has enabled her to lead and manage staff with success. Claire is looking to use her extensive experience to further develop her career in the London area as a Head Teacher or where there is a need for an experienced Deputy Head.
